We are Raising Money!!!

Finally, we are actively raising money for our mission. Wow! It has been a long time coming, and we are so excited. We made the mistake of being honest. Our goal is to educate 4,000 students in any given year. We submitted our budget to the IRS based on this number. We have since discovered that most nonprofits do not submit their applications based on their ultimate goal. They submit based on their current budget, usually less than $1,000. Of course, this makes for quick approval.

We submitted a $400 million budget. As you may guess, this number is subject to considerable government scrutiny. Lesson learned. But once we submitted it, there was no going back. Truthfully, I am glad we did it that way. We never have to worry about the possibility of being questioned for attempting to mislead anyone with a small budget while knowing we planned a larger goal.

So, we have jumped through the hurdles and will actually show positive cash flow on our 2023 Form 990. It will be even better for 2024; Lord willing, we grow each year. The people of the United States donate over $500 billion annually to nonprofit organizations. This means we only need 36 hours of that budget and are funded for life. Our students and staff will be supported in perpetuity, and we will never have to fundraise again unless we want to expand or offer raises to our staff.
